Tanya Kosanovic

Ballet, Associate CC-CICB

As a child, Tanya Kosanovic studied RAD, Vaganova, and ultimately found her home in the Cecchetti method of ballet.  Tanya has recently garnered her Associate status with Cecchetti Canada under the tutelage of Catherine Glasser.  Tanya is a graduate of York University, achieving an honours double major in English Literature and Creative Writing.  She is a poet who is published in “Existere” magazine, and a recognized piano teacher with The Royal Conservatory of Music, and also holds her Black Belt rank with the Ronin Kai Karate Federation.  Tanya has studied at Canada’s National Ballet School in the Professional Development Program and continues to attend workshops in order to further inspire and challenge her students within the Cecchetti aesthetic. Most recently, Tanya has been nominated to work on Cecchetti Canada’s Ontario Provincial Committee and is happy to serve alongside teachers, leaders and examiners who awaken the next generation to this signature ballet style. 

aryana malekzadeh

Contemporary, Jazz, Company

Aryana Malekzadeh grew up dancing at MHSB, and is now an independent dance artist, teacher and choreographer based in Toronto. She is a graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre (2020) and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from York University (2022) where she was awarded merit scholarships. Throughout her professional career she has worked for renowned choreographers such as Emily Cheung, Syreeta Hector, Shannon Litzenberger, Newton Moraes, and The Wind in the Leaves Collective, and is a performing company member with Little Pear Garden Dance Company. In addition, she has also performed in various festivals such as Fall for Dance North, Dance Ontario DanceWeekend, The Carnival of the Arts, and Nuit Blanche. Alongside performing, she is also a faculty member at York University, where she pursues her passion of teaching and shares her learnings with her students. Aryana is thrilled to be back at MHSB to share her love for dance with all her students!

Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre

Allison grew up in Vancouver where she began dancing at the age of seven years old, training in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and lyrical intensively throughout her childhood while performing with community theatre productions and with Patrick Roberge Productions on multiple occasions for events including the PNE and the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. She moved to Toronto to attend Randolph College for the Performing Arts. Since graduating, she has continued performing in shows such as Mary Poppins, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical, and Heathers: the Musical. She has also acted in short films, web series and several commercials.

Hip Hop, Jazz, Company

Candace was born and raised in Hong Kong where she trained in ballet at Hong Kong's leading ballet school, Jean M Wong School of Ballet and has completed her Royal Academy of Dance Graded and Vocational Graded Exams with Distinctions throughout her ballet career. She has also attended multiple international summer intensives under Jean M Wong School of Ballet. As Candace moved from Hong Kong to Toronto to attend McMaster University to major in Kinesiology, she discovered her passion for open-style choreography and hip hop through McMaster's University Competitive Open-Style/Hip Hop team, VIE Division. In her last year of undergraduate, she was the co-captain of VIE Division where she choreographed and led her team to place 2nd in Reach Dance Competition. Candace is also part of a Creative Open Style Company, ADDO Company where she competed at Prelude 2022 New Jersey and was part of the production, Ode To Sound in 2023. Aside from dance, Candace is currently pursuing her Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto. She hopes to integrate her knowledge of human anatomy and sports therapy when working on techniques during her classes while sharing her skills and passion for dance with the youth.

Nathalie joyal

Ballet, Jazz, Acro, Tap

Nathalie fell in love with dance in a beginner jazz class at the age of twelve. She trained at Vanleena Dance Academy in North Vancouver and upon graduation moved to New York to continue her studies in dance, graduating in 2018 from the AMDA’’s conservatory college program in Dance Theatre. Nathalie has worked with the New York Kids Club and Preschool, Dancing With Carolyn and Centennial Infant and Child Centre as an EA for children with disabilities. Sharing her love of dance and with the next generation is her passion. Nathalie is thrilled to be on the MHSB team and can't wait to dance with you!

Frédérique perron

Contemporary, Acro

Frédérique Perron (she/her), from Abitibi-Ouest QC, is a dance artist currently based in Tkaronto. She graduated from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre (2022) where she received a Spring Bursary (2022) and was a co-recipient of the Winchester Prize (2022). While immersing herself in movement-based art, she has discovered her curiosity towards human sensations, instinctive movements and the singularity of human perceptions. Her creative investigations are rooted from her desire to present movement qualities that represent a common language for performers and audience members. Frédérique’s artistic practice also brings attention towards set design, costumes and visuals. Her choreographic researches have been presented in SummerWorks' Lab (2022), Nautanki Festival (2022) and Gathering (2023) organized by Meaningful Movement.

 

kristal doga

Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro, Ballet

Kristal Doga has had a passion for dance since she began to walk, but it wasn't until she was 16 where she officially began her pre-professional training in recreational classes at Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance, Toronto, Ontario. Kristal's love for dance brought her to the Dance Performance Preparation Certificate Program at George Brown College. To further her training, Kristal continued on to the Dance Performance Diploma Program. Over the course of her dance training, Kristal has had the opportunity to work with many talented choreographers and artists. Kristal has also had the opportunity to experience working with local commercial training programs in hip hop, heels, and jazz funk - as well as train in Los Angeles, California with top international choreographers. Over the years, Kristal has picked up a passion for diving deep into the practice of yoga; as it compliments her dance training and personal development. She is a certified 200hr YTT. She is also a passionate Barre instructor and received her TTC in June 2023. With her diverse training background and a fervent enthusiasm for dance, Kristal brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to her role as a dance teacher and instructor, inspiring and nurturing the next generation of dancers.
